He began playing at Junior High dances performing Beatles and Monkees hits. In high school he was a member of a blues band playing the Yardbirds, Cream and Muddy Waters; he also participated in a band doing original music and covers of Grateful Dead and Jeff Beck. In the '70's he began playing with Butch Karn in punk and new wave bands The Kind, The Crowd, and Cold Stare. In the '80's Steve played five years in a rockabilly band influenced by Gene Vincent and Billy Lee Riley. Throughout there were collaborations with Pat Ross and Sergei Czerewko on Intense Projects. In the '90's he began doing serious recordings of the Projects and used the influence of King Crimson, Pere Ubu and The Residents. Steve plays drums, clarinet, percussion, vocals and tapes. |
